INK REVIEW: ROBERT OSTER PEACH

Inktastic: Robert Oster Peach ink review
I'll go ahead and admit that I'm quite a fan of Robert Oster inks. I like pretty much everything Oster puts out, even when it's not immediately the most practical of inks. Robert Oster Peach fits that description more than anything else: It's borderline unusable, and you can immediately forget writing something useful -other than maybe (creative) journaling- with it. But it's a yellow ink, you probably already realized this won't be the ink you sign contracts with...

But practical or not, Robert Oster Peach is an ink you'll want to use. It's fresh, it's bright, and it has some really nice shading. This is just one of those inks to mess around with, and it's a fun one at that!

The color, well I originally anticipated it to be ever so slightly more towards orange, but it isn't. It's a slight bit darker (although this is completely due to the shading) compared to Montblanc Golden Yellow or Rohrer&Klingner Helianthus. It's a warm yellow, with shading that goes all the way to a much darker orange.

To be honest, the shading kind of saves the ink if you ask me. I like experimenting with weird colors, and yellow has been the weirdest, most unusable in daily life. The shading makes it appear darker, and thus more legible, which is for the better. Still, it's not an ink made for writing notes or letters (unless you want them to be difficult to read I guess).

Properties are good. I've had nothing but good experiences with Oster inks so far. The flow is definitely on the wetter side, which benefits the shading. Even so, I'd still recommend wetter and wider nibs to get the most out of this ink, and to make your writing more legible. Behavior is good, no bleedthrough or feathering to note. Dry times seem to be relatively decent.

Robert Oster has become one of my go-to brands for fun ink colors. Their collection is very diverse, with both muted and earthy tones, but also bright and saturated inks like this one. Is Peach a must-have ink? Certainly not. It's not a writer's ink whatsoever, but it lends itself nicely to more creative applications.

Bottles of 50ml come in at 16.5 EUR (19.5 USD inc. VAT) at Appelboom, which is sort of mid-range compared to other brands. It's not the cheapest ink, especially if it's a color that you might not use very often -like this one. That being said, I generally think Robert Oster makes very good quality inks, and so far I've had nothing but good experiences with them!
